What’s one piece of advice you wish someone would have given you about your career? Or, what’s one wisdom you would pass along to others starting out in their career in this field?

For fighting fear of rejection when making sales calls: six words…
      Some will,
      Some won’t,
      So what!
Forget about it and carry on to the next call!

That’s great–could apply to so many situations!

You are not owned by the company and do not have to bend over backwards to show your worth.

Bookmark the employment standards website for your jurisdiction, you will need it! Read the manuals from the benefits providers, this will give your valuable insight.

Don’t assume you know it all….
      Never stop learning.
And as Caitlin mentioned, bookmark employment standards for your jurisdiction. It’s a valuable resource.

Love this…anyone who thinks they know it all is sadly mistaken and will be the one making mistakes. Ask questions and never lose your thirst for knowledge.

It may not always turn out the way you planned, but it can still be great and you can still do your very best at whatever you are confronted with.

      All mistakes can be corrected.

Mistakes are the best opportunities for growth, as long as you approach them as such and actually learn from them.

Nothing is an emergency. Unless you work in a hospital and someone is dying. But in an office setting, nothing is an emergency. It can wait.

I agree with this. A lot of people are reactionary in their work and just focus on putting out fires, like everything is an emergency, instead of taking the necessary time to plan, organize, and be methodical in their activities. Sometimes setting something aside for the moment will allow for clarity and in the end a better solution.
