Shared learning is so valuable and strengthens the team. It’s important not to pit staff against each other or encourage competitiveness. If staff feel like their job security comes from knowing more than someone else or knowing something that no one else does, they will inevitably harm the culture of the organization by hoarding their expertise and sabotaging collaborative efforts. If they feel secure in their job and valued, they will not feel threatened by sharing knowledge with their peers. My philosophy is if there is something valuable I know, it is better for me, my colleagues, and the organization if I document it and share it with others. This approach helps to foster a positive, collaborative environment.
